16. Nikki Glaser, 29
Actress/Comedian

While lovers of all things funny are still mourning the loss of Nikki & Sara Live, Glaser and Sara Schaefer's weekly comedy show on MTV, we can take comfort that we can still listen to the duo on their hilarious podcast (currently on hiatus), You Had to Be There. Glaser is known for her witty, sharp takes on pop culture (she's a huge Taylor Swift fan, but who isn't?), and she's also appeared on Inside Amy Schumer and @midnight. So, while the MTV cancellation is a setback, Glaser joins the prestigious ranks of MTV-cancelled comedians like Jon Stewart and Ben Stiller.

17. Sebastian Freed, 29
Talent Buyer

Less than a year after moving to New York to work as an unpaid (!) talent buyer at a Ludlow Street bar, Freed was hired by Bowery Presents to helm the booking at Mercury Lounge, generally considered—if you’re just joining us—one of the most important small-room venues in the country, as well as a band’s entrance to the Bowery booking empire. He’s added Rough Trade’s new Williamsburg outpost to his curatorial domain, producing its after-hours ticketed shows on behalf of Bowery. How’s he doing so far? The starting lineup includes sold-out shows by NYC icons Television, indie heavyweight Andrew Bird, and of-the-moment psych-popsters Jagwar Ma.

18. Kate Fox, 24
Artist

This RISD graduate's work, most notably seen on the cover of New York magazine's Design Issue, is mainly comprised of dreamy landscapes transposed onto silk and other fabrics. Beyond her own practice, Fox is the cofounder (along with three of her fellow RISD grads) of So What Art, an experimental Sunset Park art/design space that serves as both studio space and gallery for emerging artists and designers.
