Re: “The Shirt Store

Unfortunately, I took a gamble and bought a few shirts from here. They didn't work out and I thought the service was pretty poor....they are a bit insulting if you don't see everything their way.

Re: “Girl Painters Rock

Dear Jody,
(or should I just say Benny?)

As a former "employee" of your fake company I am just so glad to see that you guys are finally being driven out of business. You never finish jobs, or pay any of your workers. On the two days I worked Benny left me and two other painters alone to finish all the work without any training. One painter was a single mom paying a babysitter. Benny promised to meet us at his next job to pay us and then turned off his phone and disappeared.
I remember in our meetup interview to be hired Benny telling all of us this bullshit about how the company was different because they left clients cookies and flowers. Maybe you are the only client that ever saw Benny when he wasn't high out of his mind.

Re: “Girl Painters Rock

I'm really happy i didn't see this page before hiring Benny. Because i would have missed out on a great paint job, and getting to meet an even better person.

I couldn't have been happier with this comanies professionalism, timeliness, and Knowledge of Design. I would never have picked the colors they chose, but I love the work. And everyone whose come into my home has complimented since.

Even my building's Super was impressed by their work. The painter's even baked me cookies before they left!!!

We should all get Fresh!

This slippery low-life is operating a new scam called GET FRESH-- new name, same shady deals. He is a liar and a thief. Plenty of real painters in the city who don't con their clients and their employees. Stay far, far away.

Re: “Girl Painters Rock

I agree with the above reviews. They do not deliver what they promised. Their work leaves a lot to be desired. They become abusive over text messages. Do not hire them!!!! The girls complain that Benny owes them wages. And he asks you tip the girls. A tip? for what? They do not deserve a tip!!! They are not into this job!!

Re: “Redberi

The quality of the clothing and handbags is terrible at this store. I recently purchased a $200 bag that I ended up having issues with after only 2 days... I went back to the store to try to return and they wouldnt let me return it. I asked to speak to the owner and they said that she did not accept calls or emails.

Re: “Girl Painters Rock

Benny Slay is the most horribly unprofessional person I have ever dealt with. I was away and the paint job was 2 days late, which he explicitly lied about, telling me it looked "perfect" when it was nowhere near being done! Caused my tenants to stay in a hotel which I have to pay for. Also took money for paint when it was already in the price. Cost me several hundred dollars out of pocket for his mistakes. STAY AWAY FROM THIS GUY!

Re: “Girl Painters Rock

The GUY who runs Girl Painters Rock, Benny Slay, is unprofessional, disorganized, and a complete conman...I've seen at least five girls he employed never get paid for their LONG hours or any hours for that matter...some are owed upwards of $1000. Benny is very likable and charismatic but I assure you he is a snake in the grass...if you deal with him long enough he WILL screw you over!

Re: “Rob's Shoppe

Your clothing styles are exactly what I look for when shopping around.. And also, your prices are crazy affordable! Nothing at all like what I expected from Williamsburg considering the other boutiques. Definitely coming back with my friends!

Re: “Sean

It is now Feb, 2011. I bought 3 shirts in June of 2010. The following email thread depicts Sean's business Practice succintly:

Sean,

It has been six months now that you have been in receipt of my payment for three shirts. You had said you'd resolve it in October and I sent you a shirt that I had purchased from you several years ago as a size guide, but you didn't follow through. In fact you didn't even respond to my question regarding color choices at the time.

Stupidly perhaps I believed that you would, so you now have 4 shirts of mine.

I have to say that with the exception of a few incidents with fradulent vendors which I resolved in court, i have never had an experience like this.

This will be last email that I send in an attempt to resolve the problem in this manner. Please send me my money and my shirt.

Thank you.

Please mail it to:

Sean,

I'm writing with regards to the return of three XXL shirts that I bought over the phone from your soho store. They were beautiful.

When I bought these shirts I made clear that I had bought 8 or 10 shirts at your Boston store 3 or 4 years ago. I was told by [Mr.?] Rossen that I could return them if they didn't fit.

I've now been told that I can only obtain a store credit.

I had no way of assuming that the fit had changed so radically since I last bought clothes from you. I am 6'3 and weight 240 lbs. A store credit is not really very useful to me. The Boston store is now closed and it is unlikely anything there would fit me anyway.

I have been a good customer of yours. I attempted to remain one and it didn't work out. I was acting in good faith and was told that I could return these. I believe that you should return my money.

If you begin to make xxxl shirts I can become a customer again. Thank you.

Respectfully,

Stan Norton

Re: “Fluent City

I started with Sam's level 1 group class and am now taking level 2 private lessons. Throughout my time as a student of Sam's, I've been consistently impressed with his ability to challenge my weaknesses and subtly but meaningfully point out my strengths.

I'll admit that the first day of level 2 I was slightly intimidated by his rule that the classes be taught solely in French but it has really forced me to push myself to understand what's going on instead of just checking out (which is what I do in most educational settings).

But related to that is one of Sam's greatest assets as a language instructor: his patience. He won't just give up on a subject I'm not fully grasping and assign it for homework -- he'll keep asking questions and talking it out until I understand.

So all in all, I would recommend Sam to anyone who has a serious interest in learning French.

Re: “Fluent City

I took French in high school, but lost it all in the years since... My husband and I have really fallen in love with France over the past few years and decided we should learn the language. We found Sam through a friend and thank goodness we did! I learned more in Sam's Level 1 class than I did in 3 years of high school French! We were actually speaking paragraphs of information in French by the end of Level 1! Sam is encouraging, motivating and understanding and his homework assignments are not too overwhelming (but still challenging!). The environment of his classroom is intimate, friendly and fun. And his rates are extremely reasonable! Best in the city by far... I would recommend his class to anyone looking to begin, refresh or continue with their French studies.

Re: “Fluent City

I have been studying French off and on since high school but never have made it past a level one class. i always felt like I was starting over from scratch! Currently, I am in Sam's Level 2 class and am finding it challenging, fun and accessible. I really feel like I can make progress here, with the encouragement of Sam. He gives very clear explanations and detailed help for studying French. His classes are small, professionally run, entertaining and challenging. He makes us speak a lot to each other, which seems to really be the best way to learn. While learning a foreign language only occurs when you invest a lot of time in it, Sam is helping to keep me on that path, with real expectations and ideas for finding the time to work on it. I highly recommend working with Sam to learn French. He is a gifted teacher.

Re: “Fluent City

Not only is sam a great teacher, he is also a total hottie. I have not been the best student, but Sam has been adaptable and encouraging none the less. I am looking forward to re-taking French 2, as I missed too many classes and never did my homework. I'm understanding how the language works, I can tell what French speakers are saying (when they keep it simple), and I can pronounce things without sounding like an idiot. I have learned a lot! I'm looking forward to learning even more.
