Re: “Hope Garage

I have been there 5 times since they opened not to long ago. The food is always amazing, Pork Chops with the rosemary brown butter puree is off the meter.
Front of house team is also amazing, fast and helpful...
I just wish they had a hip hop Brunch on the weekends...

Re: “Beaner Bar

I find it offensive that anyone who is promoting Mexican culture would use the name Beaner in their title. The term is derogatory and is used often as a racial slur against Mexican people. Anyone who is racially aware should boycott this establishment.

Re: “Hope Garage

Get rid of that "chef" Chris Burke, and I may consider trying it.

Re: “Kif

Had dinner there last Thursday for the first time. Loved the little dishes to start with, shrimp tagine and hummus and some delicious "cigars" filled with spinach and goat cheese. Our couple of entrees included organic lamb tagine and vegetarian couscous and the spices made our gustatory senses travel to far away places... Oh yes we will return for some more.
For desert we chose to simply have some traditional Moroccan tea and it was perfect!
Service was attentive and nice. Atmosphere and decor very bohemian in a great way. We did went away to a far away land, even if just for 2 hours...

Re: “Calexico

Been biking out to Calexico ever since it opened for the best Mexican I've ever had anywhere on the East Coast (apologies to devotees of Anna's in Boston, but this is better). Can't wait for the Greenpoint location to open a little closer to home.

Re: “Foodswings

If your carnality has overtaken your ethical reservations as of late, what better place to indulge than here, where you can order a vegan "double down" (KFC's literally heartstopping concoction of bacon sandwiched between two fried chicken patties; there IS also a wilted piece of lettuce to feed your tiny conscience) for close to nine dollars. It's freakin' worth it. Thankfully, the heartburn and dietetic guilt come free of charge.

Re: “Republic

solid (and fast), not really thai food at all but has lots of great (heapingly large) noodle dishes and tasty finger food appetizers - place can be LOUD but is an awesome people watching place... communal seating means you might (most likely will) end up seated at the same table as someone you don't know but that is a big part of this place's charm. like a big trendy asian grad school cafeteria with servers? I always have a pretty good time here!

Re: “El Diablo Taco Truck

Hidden gem! no signs out the front, walk through a bar, beside a fire pit & taco heaven awaits. I got 2 tacos for and a cup of pozole last night for $8. Fast, cheap & very tasty.

Re: “Calexico

You have the wrong address for Calexico - it is 122 Union Street between Hicks and Columbia!
