She is a total no talent... kinda like an African American Bonnie Franklin!
She also needs to lose about 45 lbs!
Were you present for the whole tribute? Temple's set just seems to be the first you saw, as both Adam Schatz and Low Anthem surpassed his contributions (at least to me).
Not good enough to be a meaningful film ad not bad enough to become a cult classic. This movie is just trivial and boring.
There are a million words that are used for emphasis. We don't need another.
How are people supposed to express this idea now? "I non-figuratively ran into the wall"?
It is pure ambiguity to allow its use both ways. If it can mean, "non-figuratively" and also be used for emphasis, than there is no way to know what the word means in any given context.
"I literally walked on the moon". "Wow, were you an astronaut"? "No, of course not, I was just using the word for emphasis." How absurd, and figuratively stupid.
Spare is a terrible way to describe his prose, I think it's the polar opposite of spare, all meat, no bone....
One of the best waterproofing material is made from bamboo & polyester. It has high volume absorption while not being wet on the surface and it's machine washable. It is particulrly useful in the protection of furnishings and carpets. We've had 20 years experience of water sporting and have found this material to be the best, so far.
...a great American story teller.
I haven't used the grocery store in the Atlantic Center, but Target does have great prices on a few staples.
The "War on Marijuana" has been a complete and utter failure. It is the largest component of the broader yet equally unsuccessful "War on Drugs" that has cost our country over a trillion dollars.
Instead of The United States wasting Billions upon Billions of more dollars fighting a never ending "War on Marijuana", lets generate Billions of dollars, and improve the deficit instead. It's a no brainer.
The Prohibition of Marijuana has also ruined the lives of many of our loved ones. In numbers greater than any other nation, our loved ones are being sent to jail and are being given permanent criminal records which ruin their chances of employment for the rest of their lives, and for what reason?
Marijuana is way safer, and healthier to consume than alcohol. Yet do we lock people up for choosing to drink?
Marijuana is the safest and healthiest recreational substance known to man, with many wonderful medical benefits as well.
Even The President of the United States himself has used marijuana. Has it hurt his chances at succeeding in life? If he had gotten caught by the police during his college years, he may have very well still been in jail today! Beyond that, he would then be fortunate to even be able to find a minimum wage job that would consider hiring him with a permanent criminal record. Let's end this hypocrisy now!
The government should never attempt to legislate morality by creating victim-less "crimes" because it simply does not work and costs the taxpayers a fortune.
Marijuana Legalization Nationwide is an inevitable reality that's approaching much sooner than prohibitionists think and there is nothing they can do to stop it!
Legalize Nationwide! Support Each and Every Marijuana Legalization Initiative!
/The Road/ is "spare, action-describing prose sometimes interrupted with dialogue"? Really? From the NYTimes review: On the Interstate “long lines of charred and rusting cars” are “sitting in a stiff gray sludge of melted rubber. ... The incinerate corpses shrunk to the size of a child and propped on the bare springs of the seats. Ten thousand dreams ensepulchred within their crozzled hearts.” Just sayin'.
I think he does a good job of juxtaposing the love/savagery in order to fully appreciate the extremes of both, leaving one gratefull for love.
Well, if that's all you got it's only mildly violent compared to Blood Meridian, a book that's arguably the best work of 20th Century American literature.
the tacos at izucar are actually $1.50 now. this hipster writer needs to do her research.
That's awesome. I found a hilarious and awkward interview of Steve Albini. Check it out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YUl3tdVIl9A
Well, I am surprised here because now lots of nations are going to ban on Electronic Cigarette. I am not getting a pleasant reason for that. Although, E-cigarette contains less nicotine rather than traditional cigarette. I am now addicted to smoke e-cigarette of brand: [url=http://www.magnifecig.co.uk/categories/Electronic-Cigarette-E-Liquid
These are really good suggestions. I am trying to figure out what new york attractions are the must see and do. That hot dog looks really good by the way. I need to try the food there.
Well, I think I need to comment on this article - replace Westgate with SandyHook. Will you make the same argument? This is simply a case on picking on the weak and powerless. There is a real big problem in seeing violence when there is a doube standard and when victims family learn about the shooting through television and they see photos of their loved ones dead and with head shots - In what other context would this be okay? Sandy Brook? Virginia Tech, to date not photos of these victims is in circulation readily by the major papers ... this issue also needs to be understood in the context of violence perpetrated on certain peoples - the poor and the rest of the third world... why do those in the west get to decide who's dead bodies are fodder for the photographers? It also needs to be interrogated through the prism of the 'white savior complex' - we are going to save Africa from violence by publishing insensitive photos. See counter arguments on my blog post http://www.africaontheblog.com/publishing-insensitive-photographs-of-westgate-mall-massacres-victims/
What a horrible review. This guy talks about this film from a pseudo-intellectual perspective that completely misses the intention of this film. It disgusts me.
The film CBGB is a way of honoring what Hilly Crystal created, in his own crazy, no holds barred style. It is fun, off beat, wacky, and exciting--just like Hilly and CBGB. How do I know? I worked for Hilly and designed his accessories. I also came close to arranging a deal with Asian investors to open a CBGB in Vegas about 15 years ago. I am not, however, defending this film simply because I knew Hilly. I am defending it because it is art, and it is great entertainment. If you watched this film and you didn't laugh your ass off, and feel inspired by the sheer hutzpah of this guy--then you are a pretentious ass. I think the clip near the end of the film, when David Byrne and the rest of the Talking Heads--when being inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame--spent their entire stage time bringing Hilly up on stage and proclaiming and thanking him for all that he has done for music (and them, of course!)--this is the point of the film. It honors Hilly, and the thousands of bands and club goers who together brought about a new sense of possibility with music. Go see CBGB for the history, go see it for the kitsch, see it for the music, and the fun, and at the end...say a little thank you in your heart to Hilly, cause he changed your life whether you've known it or not.
Whatever happened to downtown records, upstairs record, downstairs records and Irie Ike's in NYC?
