I'm not sure what exactly drew me to this story, but I read it no less than six times & tried to read it to my boyfriend, but he's hard to keep awake when he's sleepy, so I read it again myself when he fell asleep. Maybe it's the "vulgarity" of adolescence that I miss, biking far away from my parents to affect a posture of crotch-grabbing type bad. These days I don't have to bike away to grab crotch, so the tingle of "danger" is gone. Oh well. There's always rereading The Bloodiest Battle of the Civil War by Benjamin Hale.

I found a site where you can get coupons for restaurant called "Printapon" they are on all over the news, search online
Love this one - still can't believe it didn't win.
I think that anyone posting negative comments probably had too much time on their pissy little hands and is upset they weren't chosen to read.
I'm sick of people like this. Why don't you be constructive if you really have some issue about the story? And way to be a big nerd and go look up when the bird flu was.
Nerdo, you're right. The first report on bird flu was released by the WHO in December 2004.
Awesome short story. Great writing...

What fun! Thanks, Debbie.
Well, I liked it. A lot.
No, just an impartial observer who went to check out the readings. Really, I don't want to sully the reps of any of the actual contestants. (But I'll give you credit for the username :)
Methinks Hillel Dov is jealous.
I had the misfortune of hearing this read live, this was perhaps the worst story presented.
Nit-Picking: Not even sure if bird flu existed in 2001. First documented cases were in 2004.
A pretty good story, though.
as a teacher at a home school, this made me laugh out loud
