....And I never let my girls leave the house again. But in a good way.
"There was a waxy fat moon, belly big and hanging low in the sky.": Hey na na na, CJ. You made me brake for your moon.
You are Marguerite Duras' ultimate foreign country. (Insert witty and arousing passport comment.)
Tactful and sincere, this story makes me smile in a awkward kind of way. I must say wonderful job, Ms. Lovell, wonderful job.
Cheers,
Ryan Murray
Beautifully written and so compelling! Wonderful work Angie!
Mark Twain said it best: "As to the Adjective: When in doubt, strike it out!" Mission accomplished. Too many writes "tell" when they should "show." You clearly know the difference.
AWESOME!!! in every way! go ahead and file this under GOLD!
Dear Miss Lovell,
It seems to me that you have some fucked up friends. I should know, after all I am a doctor.
This story is brilliant and disturbing.
Sincerely,
Dr. Konk, M.D.
This was good! It really pulled me in. Keep at it, Angela :)
Very moving, very subtle. And short, which is how I like my short stories. Gold star, young lady.
Compelling, understated, and stunning. Pure, dead brilliant!
"Back then my mom only let me shave up to the knees so there were soft blond hairs across my upper thigh. You couldn't usually see them but just then they were standing straight up."
Aahh painful. Amazing. A stout piece.
Effin' Brill-yunt I do say, prithee give us more from this fine young writerthang.
Tears of pride from Farmington...
So when is her book coming out. I would love to read more!
Though very different-- the story reminded me a bit of Kawabata's The Grasshopper and The Bell Cricket-- pretty cause and so short (and also involved insects).
Like the best of the much missed Transatlantic Review. Excellent. David - Dublin, Ireland
