This adaptation of Euripides’s classic tragedy gets a vigorous re-imagining in this new adaptation by JoAnne Akalaitis set to a score by Philip Glass. When the god of wine doesn’t get the worshipping he wants from his own relatives, he comes home in disguise to set things straight and have the ban on worshiping him removed.
