I found L Magazine’s recent article about anal sex amusing, but found your comment encouraging your readers to “pay a dollar and slowly bankrupt the NY Aquarium” misinformed and offensive.
If you bothered to pay attention when you visited the NY Aquarium, you would know that the aquarium is part of the Wildlife Conservation Society – an organization that has been committed to saving wildlife and wild places around the globe since 1895. They are credited with saving the American Bison from extinction, and have over 200 scientists working every day in saving gorillas in the Congo, tigers in Sibera, the fragile Madagascar ecosystem, and other wild treasures too numerous to list.
A large part of the NY Aquarium admission fee goes directly to support these important global conservation efforts.
Your “down with aquaria and pescaprisons” attempt to masquerade as an environmentalist is belied by your sophomoric “let’s bankrupt the aquarium” statement.
It is an unfortunate truth that animals are occasionally mistreated in captivity, but to insinuate that this goes on at the NY Aquarium borders on libelous.
If you actually care about the environment, you would take the time to learn about the Wildlife Conservation Society’s work (at www.wcs.org), and encourage your readers to donate as much as they can to support this worthy institution (their global conservation efforts) when they visit the Aquarium.
