Abdi nearly didn't win because the judges were concerned that his work was only about his skill (which IMHO is good, but not great) I was surprised at the quality of the work after having seen the show, probably because they were actually given time to make it. Its easy to criticize the work from afar after seeing it in that kind of sensationalized context, but honestly I thought all of there work was of a quality that you would expect to see in some level of commercial gallery (not that that means all that much). I didn't think Abdi's was the best show (you know what they say about opinions...), but at least he seems like a nice guy.
