Wow! I've read that article in Time Out New York and several others regarding the hipster and how evil hipsterism is, but you've got it spot on! Hipster was never a bad thing until some unfortunate people took its name and made it a mere trend. It's sad that the word gets such negative connotations when the actual essence of hipster is just a combination of all the other great cultural movements centering around environmentalism, art, and just creating something new.
