BTW Mr. L Magazine -- We are not CONVINCED the killing machine calling itself "Wild Life Services" (Wild Death? services) will stay out of Prospect Park. We are on 24/7 Goosewatch from dawn to dusk until the contract expires July 15. We are not sleeping. and ps. MAYOR BLOOMBERG -- SET MY GEESE and GOSLINGS FREE.
Thursday night - 6pm - PROTEST THIS INSANE USDA KILLING SPREE
Mayor Bloomberg's Mansion
17 East 79th St (between Madison & Fifth Ave)
30 geese and their baby goslings slaughtered last night (June 29) at Inwood Park. No notification to the public, no public hearing, no environmental impact survey. Community demanding the mayor cancel the kill-contract with the USDA. Come on down to the Mayor's house Thursday - June 30 - @ 6pm.
I, for one, adore and enjoy and have the utmost reverence for our canada geese.
Thank you so much for this report. Most of the media's reports are lies and fabrications, it distorts if not totally attacks the truth which includes a 10+ year long killing spree perpetrated on our nation’s already imperiled wildlife by the USDA – which is a FOR profit agency that makes millions of dollars going across the country murdering animals.
Here is a link to the best info on the history of the USDA attack on Canada Geese:
In point of fact, the worst airline "bird strike" happened in October of 1960 and the birds were -- wait for it -- STARLINGS. For FACTS, not fiction to this HOAX perpetrated by the City of New York and the USDA please see:
The country’s top three Humane Non-Profit organizations have been working around the clock to stop the USDA from a massive holocaust, what they term a "brutal and completely unjustified attack on our nation's vulnerable wildlife."
One trivial note: YOU CANNOT INGEST WILD GEESE. They graze on pesticide - ridden grass and contain dangerously high levels of mercury. In addition, the cost of killing one Canada goose - factoring in the USDA's contract kill fee -- is approximately $10.85 pound. Feeding the "homeless" in PA chicken is under $2.00 pound. Where is the charity here? The lie of geese as either a threat to air safety and/or as a threat to the environment has been completely fabricated and is a manipulation created by the USDA to increase their revenues in kill contracts. They are accountable to no one. They do not and have not done an actual EIS (Environmental Impact Survey) since 2004 and there is no factual basis for declaring an "overpopulation" where none exists. Flight 1549 had reported mechanical problems a week before the "Miracle on the Hudson" and Capt. Sully himself reported to Newsweek that the main and primary reason for aviation disasters was the budget cuts and lowered standards in the industry itself. "Bird Strikes" are such an insignificant issue that the FAA does not even list them in their own category. Ahead of "bird strikes" on their own list for threats to airline safety is "lightning" (can we round up lightning and gas it to death or feed lightning to the starving people in PA?) and top of the list is MECHANICAL DISREPAIR and/or ERROR and HUMAN ERROR.
I LOVE having wildlife in our midst. Feeling connected to what was once our natural state. It is almost religious for me. But the USDA wants to make a buck. So you know.
I don't know who posted that "goose watch" does not intend to do anything to prevent the natural or unnatural deaths of these goslings but it is beyond me who our what that individual was thinking. I am on goose watch -- my own -- and i am doing everything i can to be sure they are okay.

This website is "The coalition to prevent the destruction of Canada Geese" which mysteriously "disappeared" much like the 400 Prospect Park Geese. There is no information on the group or any of its members.
On Deborah Ah's Blog,
She posts the USDA's report, "Ridding the Sky of Geese" and notes that the current plan by the USDA is to anhilate 1 MILLION geese on the East Coast. While we are struggling for our beloved Prospect Park Geese, we also intend to take this to Washington. - Johanna Clearfield, NY State Licensed Wildlife Rehabilitator (vs. destroyer) please feel free to contact me at email@example.com
