I don't think it's my imagination that we hear more and more of these stories everyday. Whether it's the ubiquity of the stories that has increased or the frequency of incidents which has increased is worth consideration.
While there are by far many more psychologically sound teachers than there are predators, we still must take the minority seriously. There are simple (although perhaps not easy) steps we can take to protect our children, including the screening of all employees who have access to children.
