I would never say You Tube is the ideal way to see a movie, but thanks to coming across the wonderful discovery that people have downloaded movies on it, much as you discovered it, I have happily been able to see many films I've always yearned to. Just recently I have seen "The Pumpkin Eater", "Seance on A Wet Afternoon" and "The Whisperers", three films with Best Actress-nominated performances I've always wanted to see, but they are not on dvd in America and I always seem to miss the once-a-year showings (if we're lucky) that TCM allows us.

If you try google video you can see more movies that just by looking at youtube. I was able to see "Taipei Story" and Lubitsch's "Angel" from this Asian website, which had the disadvantage of moving very slowly with lots of stops.

One can watch full screen without having to download just adjust on the bottom right second from the corner.
If you have a large flatscreen and are watching in HQ than it could be just like at the movies perhaps with a similar effect of the old reel-reel. Old propaganda and antepropaganda films are very interesting.

I like Saturday night on PBS, but it seems like "Inherit the Wind" is always on. "People Will Talk" is a great picture, and on DVD.

Anyway, The Fox Movie Channel, tucked away in the nether regions of Time Warner's many channels, often shows many forgotten films from their archives--stuff Videohound never even heard of!

I managed to see Cary Grant's fascinating first film, "This is the Night" on YouTube. Roland Young is actually the leading man, and Grant is the supporting player---it's a Paramount movie---was really great to see.
