Jim Farber has clearly never heard of Fucked Up, who just released one of the best stadium rock albums in years, if not all-time. Also: I guarantee Farber's favorite band is Nirvana.

If something "sounds" tired and clichéd, doesn't that mean that the people who are listening to it think it's tired and clichéd? And if you dislike something because it's either or both of those things, doesn't that just mean you're over it? The point is, who cares if it's a cliché?

The real main reason there is not more new cockrock is because it is hard to do it at this point without it sounding tired and cliched, not because people don't like it anymore.

If someone could make a new Appetite for Destruction as good as the original I would be ecstatic and would not care at all if it was totally derivative. That would be a million times better than Animal Collective.
