      <![CDATA[The Brooklyn Philharmonic is now trying to pretend that they date back to 1857, but they don't. They were founded in 1954, and the old Philharmonic Society of Brooklyn disbanded in 1891.<br>
<br>
I wish them all the best, but this bit of disingenuousness is irksome.
