The Brooklyn-based artist revisited her hometown of Las Vegas while preparing this show, and the effects of the foreclosure crisis she saw everywhere lead to her spectacular architectural series and installation of shellac paintings on wood panels. Certain works feature documentary portraits of people making a living by selling various unusual services (rodent breeding, polygraph tests), while the most moving works in the series picture architectural details from abandoned and squatted homes reproduced, apparently, to scale, like gashes in walls, exposed wiring and makeshift doorways.
