You could argue that seeing Animal Collective in a darkened hangar supporting a record that some believe doesn’t resonate as much as their last wouldn’t make for a premium night, but you would be wrong. Their NYC appearance might’ve lost some of its luster having to relocate indoors from its originally scheduled locale at Williamsburg Park after Avey Tare’s spell with laryngitis forced the band to cancel, but Centipede Hz still offers plenty of sky-reaching moments to make the night epic. And have you heard their new B-side “Crimson” yet? The way it wiggles between happy and sad? So good.
