Ask any Bushwick artist or gallerist what drew them to "possibly the coolest place on earth" (-NYTimes) and they'll likely tell you about Austin Thomas, her former gallery Pocket Utopia, and to what extent the superb sense of camaraderie that reigns over Brooklyn's booming artist commune is a result of her work. What they might not tell you is how captivating and carefully crafted her sculptural collages have become, abstract assemblages of cut and drawn paper that evoke floral, architectural and other ornamental forms.
