Blood On The Wall’s Awesomer is a composite of all that was great about my ten favorite bands from ten years ago. It could be a collection of songs Sonic Youth couldn’t fit onto Goo. This shouldn’t come as a huge surprise to fans, but what does put a bee in my bonnet is that something about BOTW’s melodies stops me from simply settling for a husky Kim Gordon tune. Each instrument emits bouncing notes that pop and play with each other perfectly, and just when you think its sounding too obvious, it gets all dirty and lo-fi, with unintelligible lyrics. Awesomer is a deliciously put together sampling of parts that are, if not unique, certainly in good taste.
