Regardless of what you think of their recorded output, the most recent example of which is last year’s admittedly spotty but still probably underrated Forgiveness Rock Record, it’s always a completely different experience seeing Broken Social Scene perform live, where they let their already wide-open songs breathe even more than they do on record. Even all these years after bursting onto the scene with that almost-perfect 9.2 Pitchfork rating, they continue to be among the most exciting bands around, almost by simple virtue of the fact that they’re still around at all. (Damn, though: $35?)
