Catalpa has been selling itself as “New York City’s music festival,” and while that’s a mighty big undertaking, they do seem to have cobbled together a little something for everyone over two days on Randall’s Island. There’s TV on the Radio and Zola Jesus for the indie folk, A$AP Rocky and AraabMuzik taking on indie rap cred, Snoop playing Doggystyle for the traditionalists, a dedicated reggae stage, Matt & Kim and Girl Talk for the kids, and The Black Keys for everyone else. Go mix and mingle with others inhabitants of your city.
