Cate Le Bon, Pigeons

Fri., Feb. 10, 7 p.m. 2012; $10, $12 at the door

Even on tour supporting the ineffably radiant St. Vincent last year, Welsh songstress Cate Le Bon stood out. She is, for all intents and purposes, the prototype of a Wes Anderson muse: her songs fall on the quirkier side of folk, her voice traces Nico's downtrodden lilt, and she's able to soak an entire make-believe-meets-reality world in ennui with thick, smoldering vocals. Her new album, CYRK, is one of the year's early surprises.
