A wonderfully rich retrospective of the avant-garde American filmmaker, this show brings together several video installations – both recent and canonical – as well as series of stills and parodic poster art. Spanning 1957 to the present, the works on display include Marker’s snapshots of North Korea, pictures of women taken secretly on the Paris subways and a recent video essay on the nature of memory and how we turn history into a narrative.
