If Owens’s show at (Le) Poisson Rouge in November—his first NYC appearance unattached to his former band Girls—is any indication, we can expect at least one middle-aged flutist with a graying beard onstage tonight keeping true to Lysandre’s devout 60s and 70s folk-pop blueprint. Owens’s desire to be both a master craftsman of the genre and a man in love comes into plain view here, but even more so in a live setting. Just watch his facial expressions. We predict the experience will make you happy, but also a little sad.
