Slave labor-dependent commodities were a major part of Brooklyn's port-town economy in the mid-19th century. But this "public history project" explores the borough's abolitionists, who pushed back against those moneyed interests, from superstars like Henry Ward Beecher to the ordinary people who signed petitions and raised money.
