The German painter's multi-layered canvases feature fragments and ghostly traces of figurative images against trippy, psychedelic art-evoking backdrops. Every so often something comes into clear focus—an encyclopedic portrayal of an exotic bird, a Rolling Stones-style tongue protruding between pearly whites—but more often he keeps things completely abstract.
