Make no mistake, the guy who looks like a rockabilly Ken doll isn't gunning to overthrow James Blake as Pitchfork's crowned prince. And he may never have even heard of Neon Indian as far as we can tell. His brand of rock ‘n' roll may be fading, but Devin Therriault is putting up an awfully good fight, with an EP that sounds like an assembled mass of every garage-punk icon since the birth of the genre: The Stooges, The Modern Lovers, The Ramones—they're all in there. In today's context, his music serves as a wake-up call: You guys, we're going to regret this whole chillwave thing in a few years.
