John O’Regan, who's about as tall as an NBA point guard and vaguely resembles a teenaged Max Headroom on his way to some futuristic prom, would be tough to ignore in a concert crowd. Onstage, he's near impossible to look away from. Free Dimensional, the second record from his pop-star persona Diamond Rings, takes the bedroom pop hooks of his winning debut and tries to make them sound even slicker. Results are mixed, but his glam-rock presence should lift all of it to a joyful, glittering place.
