Dodgeball at the "Rock Yard"

After a failed attempt at throwing shows at Floyd Bennett Field, Jelly NYC, the people responsible for the free McCarren Pool shows of yesteryear, brought "Rock Yard" to a dirt lot next to The Morgan, a recently opened restaurant/venue at Bogart and Varet Streets in Bushwick. People slowly filed in as DJs C-LO and Ben Robey pumped incredibly intense bass from massive speakers. A fenced-off dodgeball court provided shirtless men in their twenties and thirties a chance to be 12 again, except with muscles and beer. Five bands (The Growlers, The Death Set, Cerebral Ballzy, The So So Glo's and CSC Funk Band) played throughout the day and into the cloudy, warm summer evening, as cigarettes and alcohol were consumed happily by the tattooed and brightly decorated crowd. Also, The Jello Shot Girl was there.
