It’s hard to believe it’s been just two years since Sixpoint’s beers first showed up on store shelves throughout the city. The beautifully designed 16 oz. cans, sold in similarly beautiful cardboard four-pack holders, have become staples at bars, events, and parties all over the city—and objects of desire for beer nerds unfortunate enough to live outside the brewery’s distribution area. It’s all with good reason, too: the company’s main lineup consists of well-made beers that are perfectly palatable for less adventurous drinkers but also interesting enough to get the beardy know-it-alls on board. In addition to their standard year-round offerings, they’ve developed a reliable stable of seasonals and special releases (like the Mast Brothers-Stumptown collaboration 3Beans), while continuing to churn out an impressive amount of draft-only beers. Plus they organize the annual Beer for Beasts event, which helps to raise money for The Humane Society of New York City.
