We hope that when it’s time for you to sit down and post your list of the year’s best albums on your Tumblr, you don’t forget about Ms. Friedberger. Not only was her solo debut a melodic sunburst to accompany this summer’s heat, it showcased her quirky charm outside of Fiery Furnaces’ shadow. Likewise, we hope you’ve had a chance to sniff out Grand Rapids, whose Silver Jews-meets-Pavement rock is so off-trend—so classically good—it makes them one of the most charming bands in Brooklyn. We’re big on charm.
