Jonathan Demme makes his theatrical debut at the helm of MCC Theater’s revival (with revisions) of Pulitzer-winner Beth Henley’s 2000 play about a woman in mourning after her son’s death, who checks into a desert recovery center where her mother, daughter and sister come to visit during family week. Rosemarie DeWitt (Rachel in Demme’s Rachel Getting Married) stars as the grieving mother who can’t outrun the traumas and tragedies that haunt her family and come to the surface with a vengeance during the visit.
