Doubt
Walter Kerr Theater
by John Patrick Shanley
Moving to Broadway after a successful off-Broadway run at Manhattan Theater Club, Doubt stars the legendary Cherry Jones as Sister Aloysius, a strong-willed nun in a Bronx Catholic school in 1964 faced with a difficult decision. Should she voice concerns about her priest, even if she’s not entirely certain of the truth? Teamed with Tony Award winner Brian F. O’Byrne as Father Flynn, the psychological sparks fly as religious and social mores of the day are probed.
McReele
by the Roundabout Theater Company
From Stephen Belber (The Laramie Project) comes a provocative new drama pitting social responsibility against personal redemption. When journalist Rick Dayne (Michael O’Keefe) meets death row inmate Darius McReele (She Hate Me’s Anthony Mackie), he writes a series of articles that eventually lead to Darius’s exoneration from a 16-year murder conviction. His sympathetic past and magnetic personality make Darius a darling on the lecture circuit, leading to national attention and political viability. With his past and future in the balance, Darius walks a fine line, never sure which way he’ll ultimately fall.
Faust In Love
Ohio Theater
What’s the best way to win a woman’s heart? With a little help from the devil, naturally! Target Margin Theater brings to the stage Goethe’s Faust, the author’s 18th-century epic about a scholar who makes a pact with the Devil. Their Faust falls prey to love’s stinging arrow in this second installment of their multi-season adaptation of Goethe’s epic tale. Will the love of Gretchen fill the emptiness inside, or does a gruesome tragedy await?
