The Belgian, Mexico-based performance and conceptual artist has his mid-career retrospective at MoMA and PS1 — fitting since it was his piece "The Modern Procession" that marked the Modern's temporary relocation from Midtown to Queens during renovations in 2002. Absurd and often playfully subversive performances, generally but not always in urban settings, underline naturalized and supposedly invisible power structures.
