Playwriting being the predominantly lefty profession that it is, we think it’s good and healthy to allow ourselves to get a little shook up by the occasional right-wing contrarian. That’s exactly how we expect to feel watching Pulitzer finalist (for Stonewall Jackson’s House) Jonathan Reynolds’ latest, a disjointed drama about abortion whose middle act is one really, really long rap monologue. The preceding segment is set in the 60s, when a young black woman is taken to have an illegal abortion. In the final act it’s 2010, she’s all grown up and a militant anti-abortion activist.
