Stars and moons, animals, insects, landscapes, portraits and abstract patterns made of everyday objects: These are some of the things that Whitaker, a Brooklyn-based photographer, captures in her clean, crisp, more-or-less surreal images. She has a knack for isolating neon colors and for taking things out of their context to make them look really weird: jellyfish, tree root systems, popcorn. Here she’s also ventured into sculpture, creating a massive totem that looks a lot like a Constantin Brancusi solemn.
