Heaven?s Gates 

For many New Yorkers, faiths conceived in past centuries may not hold up to the dark contradictions of modernity, but thankfully the structures themselves are stone- and brick-covered symbols of, if nothing else, a lost aesthetic. The entrances to these houses of worship are passed by unseeing eyes, with regularity, however, and their thresholds rarely crossed.
