Joe Pendleton is a boxer with a penchant for eccentric hobbies like playing the saxophone and flying his own plane, and it’s the latter that lands him at the pearly gates. But alas it’s premature as the good-natured pug (played with unending earnestness by Robert Montgomery) was snatched away too soon by an overzealous celestial assistant. But back on earth his body has already been cremated and he’s forced to inhabit the body of one Leo Farnsworth, righting a horrible wrong, solving a murder and then falling in love to boot.
