123 Community Space
Ok, so there's no one person involved with this grassroots-organized, community-driven Bed-Stuy space to highlight as a "hero." In this case, we'll just have to call the project itself heroic. Originated by a coalition of groups from outside the hood--Freegan Bike Workshop, NYC Anarchist Black Cross, along with countless individuals--123 endeavors to "open up the space to people of Bed-Stuy as a place to make their voices heard, learn together, share, and organize." And that's exactly what they're doing through a whole range of workshops, events and actions, from art making to bike repair. More of this, please.
