The Japanese-born Brooklynite’s Blender project is the result of years of inter-borough research, in which she traveled to the city’s immigrant-dominated neighborhoods, collecting and photographing the exotic and colorfully packaged foodstuffs imported by the local grocery stores. In addition to the resulting photos of brightly packaged, illegibly labeled foreign foods, Takagi operates a food cart from which one may buy snacks from the city’s various immigrant neighborhoods.
