Surely the most hopeful as well as relevant example is 1978's Coming Home, in which repressed military wife Jane Fonda achieves her first orgasm during a tender extramarital dalliance with Jon Voight's paralyzed Vietnam vet. Both Voight and Fonda won Oscars, though this clip (in which they both underplay very respectfully and tentatively) was probably not the one shown at the ceremony.
