That a paraplegic might still take some pleasure in his undiminished (in at least one way) ability to give pleasure, is an insight shared by both Coming Home and Pedro Almodovar's most underrated film, from 1997. In an early scene, a bullet pierces the lower spinal cord of a young police officer played by Javier Bardem; the film then flashes forward a few years to show the ever-vigorous Bardem having adjusted to life as an Olympic wheelchair basketball star and master of cunnilingus.
