There are so many good bands playing in the next two weeks that I might
actually have to miss the season premiers of all the television shows
I’ve been looking forward to all summer. But only if I can convince the
wife that $10 per month is not too much to spend on DVR.
Noteworthy Shows:
9/14 Hidden Cameras at the Knitting Factory
We’ve got a fun promotion going on for this one, which you can read about on page 81. Their new record is adorable. And the Ballet’s on the bill as well.
9/14 Takka Takka at Sin-é
I hate to keep redirecting you to other sections of the magazine, but flip to page 32 for an interview with these guys, with whom I’m sort of obsessed these days.
9/15 Capitol Years at Sin-é
Capitol Years records are usually fairly mellow; not so their live performances, where their hazy, laid-back country rock gets a shot in the arm.
9/17 Golden Smog at Webster Hall
Will Tweedy make an appearance this time?
9/22 Flin Flon at Cake Shop
Confession: I didn’t know a new Flin Flon record came out this year. I sure do like Mark Robinson, though.
9/23 Akron Family at Tonic
I don’t know when Akron Family became capable of playing Tonic two nights in a row, but good for them. Request ‘I’ll Be on the Water’.
9/25 The Flaming Lips at Hammerstein
Just because the Flaming Lips have always bored the pants off me, it doesn’t mean tickets to their show aren’t “hott,” right?
Oh, will you look at that: not a single hot ticket for 9/21. Looks like I’ll be able to watch Grey’s Anatomy after all.
