It seems like only days ago I was promising each and every one of you that the weather would soon start to warm up, and that you’d be spending your evenings drinking beer and seeing live music in public parks and abandoned pools and at seaports. Turns out it was almost three months ago, and I was right. It’s unbearably hot, and if you’ve done as you should have, you’ve already seen your fair share of outdoor concerts. But if you haven’t, here’s the thing: you’re running out of time. It’s August already. Before you know it, Labor Day will be upon us, your white jeans will have to be retired, and bands will return to the indoor venues. If you’ve dropped the ball thus far, do not worry. There’s no shortage of excellent outdoor shows happening in the next month. Plan accordingly, and do not blow it. You’ll hate yourself all winter.
8/8 All Points West at Liberty State Park
It’s in New Jersey, and it’s $89, but it will fulfill your outdoor music quota for the whole summer.
8/8 Miles Benjamin Anthony Robinson at South Street Seaport
Go see what all the fuss is about.
8/10 The Felice Brothers at McCarren Park Pool
All the indie-folk you can handle, for free.
8/12 Bob Dylan at Prospect Park
I hope he writes a song called ‘Jeff Tweedy’s Beard’.
8/13 Wilco at McCarren Park Pool
Oh, hey, Jeff Tweedy! What a coincidence.
