It’s probably getting to be too hot to sit comfortably in your apartment all night, and all of your favorite TV shows have packed it in for the summer, so before you start gorging yourself on ice-pops and watching The Bachelorette, get out there and see some live music. It’s fun, you know.
My picks for the week:
6/11 The Kooks at Terminal 5
Maybe? (Top Chef still isn’t over. If you stay home, I won’t tell anyone.)
6/12 Swervedriver at Bowery Ballroom
Just in case you wind up not being able to go see My Bloody Valentine.
6/13 Centro-Matic at Bowery Ballroom
Led by Will Johnson, indie rock’s most consistent supplier of country-tinged rock songs.
6/14 Vampire Weekend at Central Park Summerstage
Yes, there will be a line. Stand on it, and quit being so fucking grumpy.
6/15 The Silent League at Union Pool
I’ve been meaning to catch up with these folks, whose lush dream pop I fell hard for a few years ago.
6/16 Sigur Rós at the Manhattan Center Grand Ballroom
What better way to spend a sleepy Monday night than actually sleeping… IN A BALLROOM.
6/17 My Brightest Diamond at the Blender Theater
Ooh, how convenient... she’s got a new record out today, which, somehow, I haven’t heard yet. Argh.
