We had hair on our chest by the eighth grade and we grew up in Canada, so getting beer was never really a big problem. One time, though, on New Year’s Eve 1993, after leaving the beer store with a whole pile of two-fours, the cops pulled us over and took our beer. The bastards had been staking out the place, looking for underagers. That was a sad night.

I didn’t have one in this country, but I had one in Ireland. I don’t remember how I got it. I think I just found it. Found it on the street and put my own photo in. Just peeled the lamination off.

I never had one. And I never drank before I was legal, either. No, not in New York.

I never had a fake ID. I was overseas when I was that age, and the drinking age was 18 there, so it was never really something that I had to worry about that much. I lived in South Africa at the time. I’m sure some kids in South Africa got fake IDs, but it was just one of those things I never did.

I actually never had a fake ID. But I’m from Canada, where the drinking age is 18, so it wasn’t really that big a deal up there. I probably started drinking when I was like 16. I’d just go to house parties and they’d have alcohol there. Or just steal it from my parents.

I had a real ID, but it was someone else’s. A friend of a friend. She sorta looked like me. I just used it for a few years, in a college town. It worked a few times, but when I moved I just got rid of it.

I didn’t have one. Growing up in the city back in the day you really didn’t need a fake ID. Although, I have to admit, I’m probably not the best person to ask about this because I didn’t start drinking until I was 24. I don’t know where the kids go these days to get fakes.
