Janet Groth: The Receptionist: An Education at the New Yorker

Just out of college in 1957, Groth got a job at the magazine's front desk, and remained there for two decades. Her memoir, which she'll discuss with Rebecca Mead, Fort Greene resident and New Yorker staff writer since 1997, tells tales out of school about some of the institution's storied (and deeply odd) names.
