The backdrops in some of Grunwald’s most epic portrait paintings are walls filled with rock show posters that he has designed for bands like Grizzly Bear, The Slits, Sonic Youth and Lee Scratch Perry. Over 30 of those silkscreen posters take center stage here, with most in a classical black and white style that reminds of Albrecht Durer and Edward Gorey, while others bring in color and remind of Marcel Dzama’s quirky illustrations.
