By far one of our favorite builders of digital worlds, Gerard’s latest pixilated environment, Cuban School (Community 5th of October) 2010, is based on a school on the outskirts of Havana that was built in the 1960s following the principles of Soviet modular architecture, and which still functions as a small schoolhouse even as it falls to ruin. Based on photos and topographical data, Gerard created a detailed digital model of the building, explored here in a large-scale, two-channel projection.
