These four 60-foot long scrolls created by John Wells between 1972 and 1982, and revisited in 2009 were begun in his 20’s and still occupy his attention at 60. The scrolls represent a life’s enduring fascinations – a trove of motifs, ideas, and sensibilities that have maintained their relevance for the artist over the course of a lifetime, and remain as singular and contemporary today as the time when they were first created.
